Healthy Eating on a Budget

Deciding which foods to serve your family each week can be hard, especially if you are on a tight budget. There are so many choices at the store that decisions are often based on what we see in front of us, rather than on a plan for making healthier choices. Healthier Eating While Saving Money program can help you plan your family meals before you go to the store.  Click here for The Top Ten Tips for Eating Well in Lean Times  and a Grocery List of Budget Basics.

Weight Watchers is now free for any Cleveland Clinic Employee Health Plan (EHP) member.  Applications and other additional information is available on the EHP website.

Weight loss counseling with a Registered Dietitian  is a free benefit to any Cleveland Clinic Employee Health Plan member.  Nutrition Therapy appointments are  available  at main campus , W.O. Walker Center, and at the family health centers in Beachwood, Independence, Lorain, Solon, Strongsville, Westlake and Willoughby Hills , Lakewood, Chestnut Commons, Wooster, and Brunswick.  Call 216-444-3046 for appointment.

Food Safety in a Power Outage

Sudden power outages can be frustrating and troublesome, especially when they are prolonged. Perishable foods should not be held above 40 degrees for more than 2 hours. If a power outage is 2 hours or less, you need not be concerned, but how do you save your food when the refrigerator is out for longer times? Being prepared can help. By planning ahead, you can save your perishables.
